On May 6, it was learned that Xinghua 12-44X well—the core production well of the CCUS-EOR pilot test at Bayan Oilfield in North China Oilfield—successfully completed its fluid profile logging operation. This marks a significant breakthrough in conventional fluid profile logging for high-paraffin self-flowing oil wells at North China Oilfield.
A fluid profile refers to the precise measurement of the proportions and flow rates of oil, water, and carbon dioxide produced from each perforated interval along the vertical depth of an oil and gas well. It enables identification of main producing zones, underutilized layers, gas-producing zones, and water-bearing zones, as well as assessment of CO₂ distribution, migration direction, and breakthrough locations within the wellbore and reservoir. This information provides essential data support for subsequent gas breakthrough control, displacement adjustment, and enhanced sweep efficiency.
Faced with the challenge of lacking mature experience, Bayan Oilfield formed a dedicated technical task force together with CNPC Logging Company and specialized service teams to conduct comprehensive technological research and development. During operations, technical supervisors provided on-site command and full-process coordination to ensure smooth integration among all parties involved, shortening overall construction time. The team also collaborated on wrapping heating cables around the fluid profile logging anti-spray pipe to insulate it, minimizing heat loss of crude oil in both the wellbore and at the wellhead. After 35 hours of continuous effort, the team achieved perfect equipment compatibility, high-quality data acquisition, and successful implementation of the process in one attempt.
This breakthrough holds profound significance. From a data perspective, the complete and accurate fluid profile data obtained provide scientific foundations for CO₂ miscible flooding, reservoir development understanding, and integrated management decisions. From an experiential standpoint, this successful exploration has accumulated a full set of technical and management expertise for "high-paraffin self-flowing fluid profile logging," forming a replicable and scalable "Bayan Solution" that serves as a practical model for logging operations in similar high-paraffin oil wells.
